What Dorset College is all about
Dorset College is one of the oldest and largest private international colleges in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, and is accredited with the Private Career Training Institutions Agency of British Columbia (PCTIA). Established in 1981, for almost three decades Dorset has been offering exceptional Post-Secondary education to international students from around the world as well as Canadian students. One of Dorset's most prominent programs, the University Transfer (UT) Program, gives students the opportunity to transfer course credits towards a Bachelor's degree program at one of Dorset's partnering public Canadian universities. At Dorset, students are provided with a superior set of programs, a supportive educational environment, and a high level of committed quality instruction all of which consistently fosters academic success.
Dorset’s main program is its unique University Transfer (UT) program. Students in this program have the opportunity to transfer course credits toward a Bachelor or Master degree at one of our partnering Canadian public Universities. All our partner universities are ranked by MacLean's magazine.
UT students have the following University options after completing the required Dorset courses:
* Acadia University - Ranked No. 2 Best Overall in Primarily Undergraduate Category in 2010 Maclean's Canada University Ranking
University Transfer - Bachelor of Business Administration
Students in this program will have to finish 20 courses (60 credits) – University year 1 and 2 at Dorset, and then they will be transferred to Acadia University to complete the other 20 courses in order to get their Bachelor degree.
* Dalhousie University - Ranked No. 7 Best Overall in Medical Doctoral Category in 2010 Maclean's Canada University Ranking
University Transfer - Bachelor of Science
Students in this program will have to finish 10 courses (30 credits) – University year 1 at Dorset, and then they will be transferred to Dalhousie University to complete the other 30 courses in order to get their Bachelor degree.
And, students are able to apply for other faculties such as Doctor, Engineer and Computer Science.

University Transfer - Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA)
- Bachelor of Hospitality & Tourism Management (BHTM)
- Master of Business Administration (MBA)
BBA – Students in this program will have to finish 20 courses (60 credits) – University year 1 and 2 at Dorset, and then they will be transferred to Cape Breton University to complete the other 20 courses in order to get their Bachelor degree.
BHTM – Students in this program will have to finish 15 courses (45 credits) at Dorset, and then they will be transferred to Cape Breton University to complete the other 15 courses in order to get their Bachelor degree.
MBA – Students in this program will have to finish 8-month PGSA program at Dorset which is the preparation courses for MBA, and then they will be transferred to Cape Breton University to complete 1-year study in order to get their Master degree.
* Trinity Western University- TWU obtained an A+ on Globe and Mail for the past five consecutive years; In a Maclean’s Survey in 2008, 2009 and 2010, TWU was ranked first in “ most enriching educational experiences” and ranked among the top 3 in most its categories.
University Transfer - Bachelor of Arts in Leadership
Students in this program will have to finish 20 courses (60 credits) – University year 1 and 2 at Dorset, and then they will be transferred to Trinity Western University to complete the other 20 courses in order to get their Bachelor degree.
Our TOP Advantages:
1. Direct University Admissions
No English test results (IELTS, TOEFL) required when applying to Dorset. Students are given a placement test when they register. Qualified students are eligible to directly enter University Transfer program.
2. Letters of acceptance both from Dorset and one of Dorset’s partnering public universities
After completing the required courses at Dorset, students will transfer to Dorset’s partnering Canadian public Universities, such as Acadia University, Dalhousie University, Cape Breton University to complete their studying Bachelor or Master Degree.
3. Guaranteed and Faster Transfer
Students who finish required courses at Dorset College are guaranteed to transfer to our partnering universities without any additional requirement.
Since Dorset has 3 intakes (January, May and September) every year, students are able to finish university transfer year 1 and year 2 within 1 year and 4 months.
All credits completed at Dorset College are accepted by our partnering reputable Universities. Dorset is the only college in B.C. that guarantees 100% transfer and all credits accepted.
4. Public University BACHELOR’s or MASTER’s Degree
By Dorset’s unique University Transfer program, students are able to gain a Bachelor within 3 years or a Master within 2 years
After graduation, and according to Canadian Immigration Law, students are eligible to apply for 3-year work permit, and plan for immigration.

In-Course Scholarships

This scholarship is: Partial Tuition
Description: Dorset College's Student Scholarship Committee awards up to 10 In Course Scholarships to qualified Dorset students each semester (30 scholarships per year). The scholarship competition is open to all Dorset students.
In order to qualify for a Dorset College Scholarship, scholarship candidates must:
Be currently registered as a Dorset College student
Demonstrate a high level of academic achievement
Maintain a high attendance record
Demonstrate that they have contributed to Dorset College in a positive way (Examples: acted as a Student Representative, volunteered to help teachers and/or other students)
Write a 500-word essay detailing why they deserve to win a scholarship
Submit two written recommendations by teachers
The Dorset College Scholarship Committee will take all application requirements and the student's current English level into account.
Scholarships will be awarded to the best overall candidates in the amounts of $300 and $500.
