What University of Bristol is all about
The University of Bristol is a long-established forward-looking university with a well-earned reputation for the excellent quality of the education it offers. Studying at Bristol gives the rare opportunity to be part of one of the top 50 institutions in the world, and still be in one of England’s most relaxed and charming cities.
Bristol has six academic faculties offering foundation, undergraduate and postgraduate programmes across these subject areas: Arts, Engineering, Medicine and Dentistry, Medical and Veterinary Sciences, Science, and Social Sciences and Law.
One very important feature of the University is the employability of its graduates. After completing a degree at Bristol, some 60 per cent of graduates go straight into employment with another 25 per cent choosing to continue their studies, either at Bristol or at another world-class University.
Located only 90 minutes from London, Bristol is a buzzing, multicultural city of community festivals and carnivals, hot-air balloonists and kite flyers, theatres and museums, artists and animators, music and film. The University is very much a part of the city, based less than a mile from its centre and surrounded by magnificent architecture, but still within a few minutes’ walk of beautiful parkland.
Bristol was recently named European City of the Year, Provincial City of the Year and Britain’s most sustainable city. It has been officially designated a Centre of Culture and a Science City by the UK government. It is also the only UK city to be shortlisted for the European Green Capital Award 2010/11, and is England’s first Cycling City.
